Dr Lamar Bridges Family Fund

Dr Lamar Bridges taught chemistry at Permian during the decade of the 1960’s.  Unfortunately, he passed away at the end of August, 2021 at the age of 87 (Click on link below).  Many of you may have had Dr.  Bridges at Permian for first and/or second year chemistry. He was a special teacher who impacted the lives of many of us. His calm demeanor and kindness equipped him well for dealing with broken glass, small explosions, and fire created by many of us in his chemistry lab. His patience never seemed to be exhausted because he genuinely cared for his students and for teaching. He and Lynda never lost their love for Permian and their students returning to the 50 year reunion of the class of 1967 in 2017 in Odessa and the Permian decade reunion in 2019 in Kerrville.

We started this project to raise money for the Bridges family to help offset the medical costs and other expenses associated with his end-of-life care.  Donations were accepted through November 12 2021.

In December 2021, Kim and I were able to send all donations to Mrs. Bridges. She was so appreciative. Thanks to everyone who participated in this.

Kim Melton Abel, class of 1966
